Governor Deval Patrick appointed Mike Festa as Secretary of Elder Affairs in October 2007. He comes to the position with over 30 years of public service, including careers as an attorney and State Representative for the Melrose/Stoneham district where he resides with his family. Working closely with Governor Patrick and Secretary of Health and Human Services, Dr. JudyAnn Bigby, Secretary Festa is actively supporting a “community first” agenda for seniors and the disabled. He is firmly committed to a proactive, vigorous advocacy role for the Secretariat and the Elder Affairs Agency, to insure that the interests, needs, and concerns of seniors are respected and addressed. Mike is also a passionate gardener and has hosted a local cable show on gardening for over 10 years.
