Dr. James DiReda and Jack Maroney along with their childhood friend, Henry Grosse (in memoriam) co-authored The East Side of Addiction, a story of an inner city neighborhoods coming of age during the drug culture of the 60’s.

This virtual presentation’s objectives include:

  • Understand the risk factors and signposts of addiction among seniors
  • Identify the impact of substance abuse among the elderly using a bio-psycho-social framework
  • Discuss strategies for managing substance abuse disorders in the over 50 population
  • Understanding the challenges posed by COVID-19 in treating substance abuse disorders

This program has been approved for 2 Social Work Continuing Education hours for relicensure, in accordance with 258 CMR. Collaborative of NASW and the Boston College and Simmons Schools of Social Work Authorization Number D80513.
